As part of the foundation of California’s public‑education system, CAPTA serves as a trusted voice for millions of members, parents, caregivers, educators, and partner agencies across the state. PTA is the nation’s largest volunteer‑led child‑advocacy association, working to improve the education, health, and well‑being of all children and families.

We believe every adult shares the responsibility of helping all children reach their full potential. We believe parents are children’s first teachers, and that meaningful parent involvement is essential throughout a child’s educational journey. We believe the family — defined in many forms — is the core unit of society, responsible for nurturing and supporting children. And we believe our mission includes advocating for every child’s safety, welfare, and access to a high‑quality public education.
