Sacramento Safari is Fourth District PTA’s annual two-day advocacy trip to our State Capitol. Orange County PTA members get to hear from key speakers on issues that affect children, youth and families; learn about the inner workings of state government; advocate directly to our legislators; and network with other PTA advocates. Attendees walk away inspired and motivated to make a difference with the power of PTA!

  • Tuesday, February 23rd, 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
• Debrief:  March TBD via ZOOM

Budget

All units and councils should have an advocacy line item in their budget to cover this program.  Plan on roughly $1,200 per person -really depends on airfare (look for special/holiday deals) or coordinate carpool if attending in larger groups to keep actual costs down. Current travel per diem rates (following CA State PTA policy) are: $16 Breakfast, $18 Lunch, and $33 Dinner.

Your PTA unit or council pays for:

• event registration
• airfare, ground transportation/parking
• Tuesday lunch/dinner

Registration

• Your PTA must first vote to send approved representatives.
• $575 per person double occupancy; $699 single occupancy (join with a fellow PTA member or we will pair you with a roomie)
• All attendees will be booked at Embassy Suites for Monday Night. For any additional nights, you must book with the hotel directly –using the Fourth District Sacramento Safari group rate. Be sure to let us know if you are booking additional nights as that helps us meet our minimum contracted agreement with hotel.

• Registration fee includes:
  • One night at the Embassy Suites, Sacramento
  • Lunch & dinner on Monday, breakfast on Tuesday
  • Conference materials
  • Admission to presentations
  • Legislative advocacy visit to Capitol to speak up for kids & education
  • Fully refundable registration fee until February 5, 2027; after that it is only transferable if you find a replacement for yourself and your PTA votes to approve the new person.
